Go Nets!!!

I'm a convert. I have a new team. The New Jersey Nets. Why the hell did I change from a team rocking the NBA to the Eastern Conference strugglers? For several reasons.

Firstly, it's good to support the underdog. It's not as if they are the worst team in the NBA at all, but it's quite satisfying to know that if they go and win the NBA one day, when you started supporting them they weren't super good.

Another reason I chose to switch is that I might actually get a chance to see them in real life, when they play the Raptors at the O2 next this March. I'm very excited about possibly attending, seeing that the limits of my seeing basketball matches in real life is the Harlem Globetrotters and when I was France, the French All-Star game. It will also be a historic event: the first time regular NBA season games are played in Europe, all the previous NBA games in Europe being friendlies.

Another thing worth pointing out is that I never seriously supported San Antonio. I only got their jersey because I was in France and there wasn't much choice. When you go to the typical sports shop, you see about 20 Tony Parker shirts and possibly a few Boris Diaw shirts (the other big French NBA star). I didn't really choose to support them, I just ended up with a Spurs jersey without really thinking.

But this time it's serious and it's very unlikely I'll stop supporting the Nets. You can get cheap NBA jerseys at Sportsdirect, so that's not a problem and the prospect of having Carmelo Anthony is also very tempting. Besides, my Spurs jersey is getting too small...
