WHY IS NOBODY BUYING TEVEZ????

Carlos Tevez is easily one of the best football players in the world. He has recently had a massive fight with his club and wants out. SO WHY ON EARTH IS NOBODY ATTEMPTING TO BUY HIM?? It really is beyond belief. Fair enough, we've had clubs over the last few days attempting to sign him on a loan deal (West Ham, and, believe it or not, Ireland's mighty Limavady United) but somebody should sign him. He hates Man City, Man City hate him, so why won't they just accept any only offer and get done with it.

Any potential Tevez deal would be the bargain of the century, as Man City, after the Champions League incident, would probably let him go for around 10-20 million, instead of the 35 they wanted during the summer. I would be over the moon if one of my teams signed him.

Joey Barton being signed on a free is a bargain, but Tevez for 10 million is a present. Surely Boca Juniors have 20 million going spare they can spend on Tevez? I reckon that he would be willing to significantly cut his wages to move away from Manchester.

What's more, Man City obviously won't have any problems replacing him. They will just buy somebody else for 30 or 40 million. The Qatari owner will not even blink. There is an obvious solution to this dilemma, which has been going on since the start of the summer, so why is nobody applying the solution?

Jon Jones: Unstoppable?

At UFC 135, Jon Jones defeated Rampage Jackson with a submission, in doing so becoming the only person ever to not gone the distance with Rampage. It is fairly obvious that he is the new big thing in the UFC, and arguably the most talented fighter (a part from Anderson Silva).

Jon Jones has talent and he will probably dominate the light heavyweight division for the next few years. Whether he will repeat the truly extraordinary feats of Anderson Silva in the middleweight division is a different question. He's undefeated in the UFC, but I don't think he's unstoppable like Anderson Silva.

Beating Rampage like he did showed his skill, but I think everybody, me included, would like him to fight Rashad Evans. He is somebody who is in top form at the moment and somebody who he hasn't yet fought. I feel this could be a much closer match-up and they would go the distance. Another opponent who could potentially cause Jones some trouble would be Matt Hamill.

Hamill beat Jones on the Ultimate Fighter a few years back, and even though Jones has improved massively, I feel it could still be a close matchup than with Rampage or Shogun Rua. Looking at the light heavyweights in the UFC, I think that there are still a few top fighters he has to beat before it can be said conclusively that he is one of the best of all time.

Mark Cavendish: A Legend in the Making

Mark Cavendish wins the world title in Denmark

Mark Cavendish is world champion, and a fully deserved one. 10 years ago, nobody would have ever thought that a British rider would win the Worlds so soon. But 46 years after Tom Simpson won in San Sebastian, it has been done. The Copenhagen course really could not have been won by anybody else. It suited Cavendish perfectly, almost completely flat and bound to end in a massive sprint.

What's more, by winning this year, he can potentially win twice in a row as next year's race in Holland will also be flat. If in 2012 Cavendish wins several Tour stages, the green jersey in the Tour, the Olympic Road Race and the World Championships, I think it's safe to say that he will have moved from cycling great to cycling legend.

The Manxman is now undoubtedly the best sprinter of all time. Nowadays, a cycling sprint is like a Formula 1 race. Cavendish always wins, just as Vettel always wins. No sprinter has had that kind of dominance ever. Cipollini got close, but he could still be beaten. When Cavendish is lead out by his train and released with 200-300m to go, he is quite simply unbeatable.

So what next? The obvious answer to that are the Olympics, but firstly he still has to announce which team he's going to be on. As I said in a previous post, I think he will end up at Quickstep as a lot of his former team are heading that way. It would make sense for him to try and keep as much of his old lead out train as possible, even though everybody seems to think that he is going to Sky.

Kobe Bryant: Off to Italy?

Virtus Bologna, the Italian basketball team, have reportedly offered Kobe Bryant a 6.7 million contract to play for them for the whole of next season. With the NBA almost certain to not go ahead or be severely delayed, Bologna think that Kobe Bryant will be tempted by this offer, as he grew up for some of his childhood in Italy.

I think that it would be absolutely phenomenal if European basketball managed to attract Kobe Bryant. Bologna will find their attendance will sky-rocket, sales of jerseys will go though the roof and chances are many Americans will come over to Europe and watch. 6,.7 million seems a lot, but there is almost a guarantee that Bologna will get it all back through the things I mentioned above.

Sure the Kobe Bryant of 2011 is not the Kobe of 2008/2009, but it's the next best thing to Lebron James in terms of having a basketball superstar, and it will really improve the reputation of European basketball as a whole.

Other basketball stars who are planning moves to Europe: Ron Artest will create a worldwide shock if the joins the Cheshire Jets, something he says will happen and Tony Parker is likely to make a return to the French league. So everything is looking rosy for European basketball. You can't say the same of the NBA.

Man City: The Future's Bright

I am both worried and looking forward to the future of English football. The good news is that there should be a lot more English talent in the coming years. Man City have just invested around 200 million into tyne construction of a brand new training complex, as well as top youth facilities. The bad news however is this: English football will be dominated by Man City starting in the next few years.

The owner of City, Sheikh Mansour is worth an estimated 1 trillion dollars. Yes, you read that right, 1 trillion dollars. In pounds, that's about 555 billion. And that truly makes you realise the microscopic part that Man City plays in his fortune. If you estimate that Man City are worth somewhere between 800 million and 1.5 billion, it's not even a drop in the ocean. Sheikh Mansour could buy, if he wanted, 555 Man City's.

The fact is that other clubs just can't compete. They will be outspent in every single way by Man City and I reckon that when Ferguson retires, Man City will have no competitors. They should win the Premier League many times until another Qatari decides to buy another Premier League team, then they will take about 5 years to build a good team that will be able to compete with City.

So it's a double edged sword. The new Man City academy and facilities are sure to help develop English talent however the Premier League could develop into a monotonous, boring event with the money they have invested in the club. Needless to say it will be great for City fans, but for the rest of us, it'll be pretty depressing.

Floyd Mayweather: Where the hell are your manners??

At the weekend, Floyd Mayweather fought Victor Ortiz in a match that ended up probably the most controversial boxing fight of the year. Mayweather kicked Ortiz out with what many called a "cheap shot". I would have to agree. Then to top it off, accused HBO legend and boxing presenter Larry Merchant of "not knowing shit about boxing" (you can watch the row above).

Coming back to the actual KO, Mayweather should have stepped back. It was all rather confusing but Ortiz clearly wasn't ready and it wasn't clear whether the referee had officially restarted the fight.I reckon Mayweather knew that was the case and just taking advantage.

The row between Merchant and Mayweather I thought was disgraceful. Merchant was just doing a normal interview and reflecting the general consensus which was that Mayweather's punch probably was a cheap shot, and Mayweather starts saying that Merchant should be fired. I previously thought that Mayweather was rather respectable but after that he's dropped down a level in my eyes. He now belongs with the likes of David Haye. People who have no manners.

Good for Larry Merchant though, at least he had the balls to defend himself, unlike many other ring presenters. "If I was 50, years younger I'd kick you ass". I'm sure you would Larry, in fact you'd destroy him (no sarcasm intended).

How can Brazil have so much talent?

I watched the Brazil vs Argentina game on ESPN, which featured the second teams of both. No such players as Messi, Pato and the usual stars. Players like Leandro Damiao and Pablo Mouche took centre stage in what was a good albeit goalless game. But what struck me was the incredible skill of these teams, despite them being second string. They were way superior to England's first team.

The only stars for Brazil playing were Ronaldinho and Neymar, and for Argentina, half of their team came from Velez Sarsfield, an Argentinean team. No big stars were on show. However the quality of football was high, and the highlight of the game was unarguably Leandro Damiao's flick up and dink, with which he almost scored. Look it up on Youtube. It's one of the craziest bits of skill I have ever seen.

The fact is that England or your average European side is a million billion lightyears away from producing a second team that's similar. You would have players like Milner and Downing playing for the England second team. When you compare them to young Brazilian prodigies like Lucas Moura and Casemiro, there is little if no hope.

I have no idea how countries like Argentina but especially Brazil continue to roll out talent on a conveyor belt, a bit like Barcelona but better as it's on a national scale, but it is quite amazing. I don't if it has something to do with the fact that kids in Brazil have nothing else to do than play football, which would mean that they would all more a less comply with the 10,000 hour rule, or if they are just naturally gifted. I can't wait to see what the future holds for both Brazil and Argentina. All I can say is, it's bright.

Rugby: The Rise and Fall

Rugby is a game for thugs played by gentlemen and football is a game for gentlemen played by thugs. I don't think that the old saying is true anymore. After watching the first few games of the World Cup, I have more a less lost interest in rugby. The days of Barry John and the great Wales team are long and the game is now based around rucks and big forward play, not the attractive game of before.

It's a sad thing to see, but even more sad is the decline of the average player. He's gone from the polite and well mannered to rude and abusive, and that's why the statement above is no longer true. Rugby is now played by thugs. Fights are more common and the referee is no longer shown much respect. The one thing rugby had going for it before was how well the players behaved compared to football. That's no longer true. James Haskell told the referee "fuck off" against Argentina.

The actual game as I mentioned before is based around forward play. Francois Pienaar said that "the forwards win matches, the backs decide by how much". The first part is very true, the second less so. The forwards more or less do everything.

The final big problem with rugby these days is the rules. About 6 penalties were given to England when they played Argentina for no apparent reason. What has gone wrong? Football has managed to keep things simple. Rugby is becoming harder to understand than cricket, especially the commentators never bother to explain anything. Really confusing.

Rugby is becoming american football. Constant pauses, and only the occasional try. Quite frankly, people may as well watch american football. I find the latter quite boring (even though I do watch the Superbowl every year and follow it from a distance), and so that's why I decided to give up on rugby. It's no longer the fluent attacking game that was played in the 70s and 80s and the players have gone backwards on the evolutionary scale and the rules are harder to understand than Emmanuel Adebayor speaking English.

My Football Dream Team: 2011

It has been more a less a year since I did a video on my football dream team. I figured it's time for an update and a 2011 version. Almost the whole team is changed, as I realised my previous team really was not good. Enjoy and comment!!! Who would be on your dream team???

Why England will not win the Euro

England last night were pretty dismal, yet somehow won against Wales. I do not support England anymore, as I think they are really a long way from fielding a team that can compete with the likes of Holland, Spain and others. Fabio Capello I feel has lost it ever since the World Cup. He's playing players who in my opinion are not up to it and something really has to change.

You look at Spain's midfield. Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas. You look at England's midfield last night. Milner, Lampard and Barry. It's the best joke of the year. How people can think that they really stand a chance at the Euro is crazy.

The problem is that English clubs do not put enough emphasis on developing young players. This has been said millions of times by millions of people, but it's true. Look at Barcelona. They very rarely sign non-spanish players. They sign Spanish stars like David Villa or Fabregas and they take players from their academy.

Instead of spending the millions on foreign stars who are not that good, why don't Man City or other big money English teams spend it on a great ENGLISH youth academy. Barcelona did that and look where they are now. Real Madrid did not really do that and look what's happened: in thew time that the Galactios were winning everything short term, Barcelona through to invest in La Masia so that they could have long term success.

The moment clubs invest in developing young ENGLISH talent (it's no good developing young foreign players) within 5 years or so the English national team will start to look good, and that's when I will start to support them again. But before then, no chance I will support them.

Lightning Bolt!!!

Who can stop this man? Is the greatest of all time? Usain Bolt has done it again by winning the 200m in Daegu easily in a time of 19.40 seconds. He recovered well from his previous false start in the 100m, forgot about it, did things as usual, showing great mental strength. So, what next for Bolt?

The answer to that would probably be destroying everybody at the Olympics, then retiring. He says he wants to play for Man Utd. Imagine all the Premier League defenders trying in vain to catch up with him. Scary sight. But Usain Bolt is still a sprinter, for now, and it is also worth noting that the second and third best 100m sprinters were not present at the World Championships: Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay.

Come the Olympics in 2012, they should be there to challenge him. I really like Asafa Powell, he is capable of running some really fast times. his PB is 9.72. He could be beat Bolt, but Powell has to be at his best and Bolt more a less at his worst. Tyson Gay I don't think will be able to beat the big Jamaican, regardless of the circumstances. For me, Powell is just that bit better than Gay, and that's why I think the former can beat Bolt, but not the latter.

Another potential long shot to cause Bolt trouble could be the Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre. He is getting better every time he runs, and in the 200m, he pulverised the French record (was 20.10, Lemaitre's time was 19.80). I think it's fairly obvious that he won't win, but he could turn some heads and get a silver.

Mikel Arteta: Welcome!!

I said a few posts ago that Wenger really needed to sign people fast. The Frenchman claimed he was going to sign 3 new players at the time: I didn't believe him. Furthermore, after the loss to Man Utd, I was completely distraught and really thought Wenger should be sacked/resign. However after yesterday, where he signed 4 new p[layers and basically rebuilt the team, I'm really excited for the further and think he should stay. This is just a tribute I MADE to arguably the biggest signing Arsenal made yesterday, Mikel Arteta from Everton. ENJOY AND COMMENT!!

What did you think of Wenger's signings?
