Review: UFC Undisputed 2010 [PSP]

I recently got UFC Undisputed 2010 for the PSP, as I wanted a game for my new interest. I have to say, I was surprised at how good it was. For me the biggest and best things have to be the roster but also the cut scenes. The roster is really big, with over 100 fighters which is enormous for a PSP game. The cut scenes are also slick, with the actual voice of Bruce Buffer in the octagon. Another good point is that the controls are pretty easy to use. They had a tough job of converting the controls to the PSP, but I think they've done it really well.

There is only one bad thing about this though: the create a fighter function doesn't work. The choices are limited and the GUI is at times unresponsive. Apart from this it's a really good game though.

Check out the trailer above. It's pretty cool!

FIFA 11!

I just went and preordered FIFA 11 for PS2 off amazon. I'm excited. The video above goes over some of the new features in FIFA 11. This isn't a major post, but the above is just a good vid, and it doesn't really next any additional explanation.

Ed Miliband: Labour party leader

Ed Miliband got elected as leader of the Labour Party yesterday by the skin of his teeth. I'm not Labour, I'm somewhere between Conservative and UKIP, but I still had a vague interest as to who was going to chosen. Ed's victory, to some people is slightly surprising, many people thinking that David would get it. It was very close. I think it was about 50% to 49%, rounding it up, so this shows in my opinion, that Labour should really be thinking about a Miliband coalition!

The last thing I want to mention is that, in his speech, he kept thanking everyone, including his opponents in the election. I'm sorry but they can't be genuine thank yous. If they were, what he would be saying would be, thank you for trying to stop me from becoming Labour Party Leader, I almost wasn't in fact because of you. It's just stupid.

My Football Team of 2010

Here is my football team of 2010. This will no doubt shock many, but read below for explanations. I couldn't upload the video I made because it was too big. But if you search these guys on Youtube, you'll find some compilations and stuff like that.

Lloris-Broke through in 2010, exceptional. Really showed is is the best, stopping Bordeaux and Real Madrid single handedly in the Champions League.
Sagna-Fast, works well with Clichy, does his job, and very well. Couldn't really think of any other contenders
John Terry-Strong, never gives up, essential to any defence. No matter what he does off the pitch, on the pitch he always gives his all.
Lucio-Great attacking centre back, technically gifted but also physically impressive. Great buy by Inter.
Gael Clichy-Compliments Sagna very well, he's like Ashley Cole but without off pitch antics.
Arjen Robben-Nobody's better at right wing. The way he cuts in onto his left foot is insane.
Juninho-Still the best free kick taker in the world even though he now plays in Qatar. He also has great vision. Honest bloke as well, not likely to go and do crazy stuff off the pitch.
Clarence Seedorf-He's everywhere on the pitch. He might be getting old but his passes still easily split defences.
Rory Delap-Brings another ability to the team: long throws. He's also very regular.
Diego Forlan- Had an amazing world cup, and is amazing.
Lionel Messi-Self explanatory.

commonWEALTH???? More like commonPOOR!!!

Child labour Delhi

The images coming out of Delhi coming up to the Commonwealth games are quite shocking. The site is in a total mess, everything is collapsing, and more importantly CHILD LABOUR is obviously being used.

Child labour, although it is still widespread in India, is ridiculous. Especially when you see a five year old building part of a stadium, or cementing the seats in or whatever. Of course, Great Britain, will foolishly send their team, and of course, they will probably all be sick within a few days of arriving. Because, from the pictures, the athletes village is obviously not ready and practically everything has been badly built, as everything is currently collapsing. No wonder, if you let a five year old glue the roof on, which of course, they really shouldn't be doing.

I think that if all the teams had boycotted the Games, all this would have stopped. Maybe even the child labour in some places...

ARSENAL 4-1 tottenham

Samir Nasri celebrates

That's right Tottenham, we whooped your big fat arse! Sorry but I just had to say that. Last night's performance, was probably, one on the best I've ever seen from Arsenal. Not really because of the scoreline, but because it was Tottenham!

For once, we can clearly show that we rule North London. And guess what? We did it without Fabregas, Van Persie and god knows who else who is injured. This is quite something. I admit that a few posts ago we would struggle to beat the big teams but I think I'm slowly changing my mind. Tottenham are not the biggest, but they did finish fourth last year. And OK, it was the Carling Cup but nevertheless, it's still quite something.

Another thing to point out is how good Nasri was last night. He got the two penalties and scored them both and was pretty much solely responsible for splitting open the Tottenham defence. And importantly, last night, Fabianski wasn't, yes, wasn't that bad. He did what he had to do and on one occasion made a decent save. He did concede, but the Keane's goal was offside anyway so it shouldn't have counted.

Last point I want to talk about is Harry Redknapp. I hate him so much. Not just because he's the manager of Tottenham but because of his attitude. He's worse than Sam Allardyce (who I actually quite like). According to him Nasri dived, which he clearly didn't and he complained that Arsenal put out a stronger team. Come on Tottenham, you bought tons of people in the summer, for crying out loud play them, you wheeler and dealer Redknapp. But the thing is he hates being called this. When asked if he was one by a Sky reporter Harry had two words for him: "Fuck off." For me, this is hysterical

My timetable is crazy!

As you can probably guess, I went back to school a week ago. But as usual, it's quite annoying as there are some little thing that drive you nuts! For example, my timetable cannot stop changing. Classes are being added and moved around the place and every time I seem to make an appointment, i have to reschedule it because something else has come up.

If only there could be some computer that just does everything right first time, so nothing needs to be changed or rearranged. Another thing that I have found annoying, is surprisingly, my bike lock. Today was my first day that i biked to school, but when I tried to unlock my lock to get my bike and go home, the key didn't friggin work. After miuntes of fiddling with it of course I managed to open it, but why can't all locks just have combinations? Wouldn't be simpler? If you have a bad memory just note it down the combination down somewhere confidential. Anyway, that's all for today, off to play some Football Manager.

Football Manager: Top Tips

I haven't had the greatest weekend football wise, with Arsenal and AC Milan drawing and Oxford United losing. I was at the Oxford United game yesterday, which makes it worse. Anyway I thought I'd give you in this first short post of the day my top ten five tips for Football Manager:

1) Always save your game regularly. I can't tell you how many times it'a quit unexpectedly on me, and it's really annoying to know that you've lost everything.

2) You have to vary your tactics. Not every game, just maybe once every five games change tactics. Your opponents get used to your tactics and eventually learn how to play the weaknesses.

3) When planning your tactics, make sure there are no big holes that are unfilled. eg. A 4-4-2 diamond where you play wingers so you get gaps in the middle. What I have done to overcome this problem is to, instead of playing wingers, play central midfielders but set their runs out to the wing. It works for me.

4) This one is very useful. Let's say you need a right winger but you don't have one available, and you can't for whatever reason, sign any more players. All you have to do is choose a player who already plays is a position that's reasonably close to right wing eg right back, then go to his page and select training overview. Here you will have the option to train him for a new position (right winger). It saves you money!

5) Choose your tactic. Choose something that works for you. Not all "good" tactics you find on the internet are guaranteed to work. You have to find something that works for you.

Arsenal win!!

Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Marouane Chamakh celebrate

I had to. I just had to. How could an Arsenal win like that go without a post? They were really brilliant and their display showed them at their best. OK, it was Braga, but nevertheless, what they did was brilliant. Braga, may I say, is a team that knocked out Sevilla and Celtic to get to where they are now.

Fabregas' passing was perfect, Chamakh couldn't have done much better either and that little finish by Vela for his first goal was sick. Braga didn't have, to my knowledge, one serious chance that threatened Almunia.

The one big question that remains is can they do the same thing against teams like Man Utd and Chelsea? I honestly don't think so. I'm a hard core Gunner and I although I would love it if they were able to, I don't think that they can, at least not now.

This is mainly down, in my opinion, to luck. Arsenal are constantly plagued by injuries whereas, a part from Valencia recently, Man Utd have had not serious injuries to any of their players. Same situation at Chelsea.

If they get all their players fit, then, fingers crossed, we can beat the big teams.

SKY, What is your problem?

Even Arsenal winning 6-0 didn't make me not write this. I might write about Arsenal's beauty tomorrow, but for now it's all about SKY.

That they take the rights to the Premier League, I'm pissed. But that they dare show matches from the England national team? No way. Every football fan should have the right to watch their own country play football not matter how bad they are. OK, we do get to watch some matches on ITV, and it's better than nothing, but still nothing beats the BBC: no ads, and more importantly, Alan Hansen.

With ITV you get stuck with Adrian Chiles pretending he knows about football, and more importantly you get his really bad one liners. Why can't the new coalition do one thing that will benefit all of us: make a law that says that only the BBC can show football. Simple.

This post is short as I think I've already managed to get my point across. A might do another one later on.

Champions League!

In 24 hours, the Champions League anthem will sound again for the first time in 5 months, and I'm really excited. It's more open than ever this year, so I thought I'd make this post just to take a look at the 3 main contenders!

Chelsea: I hate to say it, but they are undoubtedly the best English club at the moment. They have won god knows how many games on the trot, and in Ancelotti, they've got a fantastic manager with experience. However at European level they haven't been successful and I really doubt if they will ever win the Champions League. But you never know...

Real Madrid: They've got the best individual talent in the world, and the best manager, but ban they bond together as a team? I don't think so. Not this season anyway. Maybe if they stop buying players and try and form a proper team spirit they can do something but not now. But they will still do well this year.

Barcelona: The best team in the world, I think they will win the Champions League this year. Messi, and now Villa, they will be unstoppable. Not much else really to say.

Henry TG's Blog v1.1

This blog is still in it's early days, and every so often new features will be added and other things will be tweaked. Here are a basic list of things that I have integrated into v1.1 of my blog:

-A new Contact Me page, so you can reach me directly from my blog. So now anybody who reads it can get in touch with me if they wish. To reach this page, click on the link on the right. (obviously!)

-A new Links page. Here you can find all my fave websites, many of which are not that well known. If you want to tell me about a really good site, use the new Contact Me page.

-I have updated copyright info. I have now written at the bottom of each page that I own the site. Pretty basic, but still...

Here are some things that I might add in the future:

- Video and photo pages, I would probably post good/funny vids and photos. I might also be able to sneak in some footy highlights once in a while...

-A new domain. However http://henrytg.tk and http://henrytg.blogspot.com would still exist and work.

-A donate page. I wouldn't mind it if all my hard work was rewarded.

-Advertising. Would be very affordable and your advert would be constantly shown on every page of my blog. Unlike other services such as Google Adwords...

Broken Legs: Why?

I still don't understand, it seems to be happening more and more. Why do crazy players decide to tackle other players wildly and ruin their season. This picture is of Eduardo's break but there are many other big players who have had the same problem (Djibril Cisse [twice actually, the same leg!], Aaron Ramsey, Abou Diaby and today, Bobby Zamora).

The fact that Arsenal players seem to have leg breaks more than other teams, I think, is not a coincidence. They are not a very physical team and so other teams attempt to exploit it: it's absolutely disgusting. It was the same story with Fulham today. Although I have yet to see the tackle, I have read that Karl Henry, the tackler, did a crazy challenge and as far as I can see he didn't even get sent off.

Players who get broken legs spend their season on the sidelines but that's not really the end of the story. There can be complications, and depending on the break, ligament damage could also have occurred. All that is needed is that on the player's first match back, he gets a rough tackle and he's again out for a very long time.

Please refs, if any are reading, get your act together. Don't give a yellow when there has just been a leg-breaking tackle: send em' off!

James Toney

I honestly couldn't think of anything to write on, so I figured why not write about someone who has been getting a lot of publicity recently, that person being James Toney. He is my favourite fighter whether it be in boxing or MMA and I don't understand why everybody is considering him to be an epic fail after his loss to Randy Couture.

If you gave boxing gloves to Randy Couture, told him to go off and train for 9 months, then to come back and face Toney in the ring, he would, I'm pretty sure, get knocked out in the first round. I think that, firstly, if Toney had been facing a slightly less good opponent (Couture is arguably the greatest heavyweight the UFC has ever seen), he would have been able to win.

If it's Toney's attitude that's the problem, all fighters are like that. They're always bragging about how they're going to knock the other person out. I mean take the Harrison vs Haye fight that's scheduled for November 13th this year. They were already getting at it in the press conference. For me, it was good entertainment.

But in a sense I do agree with Dana Smith, the president of UFC: James Toney should probably just go back to boxing. He's a reigning heavyweight champion, and he should avoid the world of MMA as, it honestly isn't his thing. He doesn't have the physique and he has left it too late in his career to try and make the switch. He's 42 for crying out loud!

Review: Idle Thumbs Gooseneck in Car PSP Holder

There is going to be pretty short, as there is honestly not much to say about it. This bit of gear allows you to stick you PSP onto an arm, which then itself has a suction pad at the end of it, so it can stick onto glass. This is ideal for using in the car, but since I have a window by my desk, I just stick it up there. However, the suction pad will ONLY stick to glass. It will not work on walls, wood or any other type of surface. So if you haven't got anything glass to put it on, DON'T BUY IT!

It is a very practical device, as it gives you the ability to sit back and watch UMD movies without having to hold your PSP and it allows your PSP to become, in a sense, your own media centre, if you plug it in to some speakers.

However, like on pretty much any product, there are some drawbacks. Firstly, it is not super good quality. When you bend the arm, you can see that some of the glue comes off at the bottom where the whole thing connects to the suction pad. However, it's not like the whole thing collapses. It stays together. The second and last bad thing is that, as mentioned before, it only sticks to glass, meaning that if you want to put it on your desk. it will eventually fall off.

But still, for 3 quid, it's an OK product and one that I think will be very useful.

England playing a lot better!

England. They, I can't deny it, played way better than against Hungary. Still there are several things I would like to point out. Firstly, Wayne Rooney, for me, is no longer a striker. He can't score anymore. What he can do though is pick out the most perfect passes. I think that he should become a full time attacking midfielder. Like that, he can fully use his passing skills and if he wants, he can sometimes come forward to have shots on goal.

Also, I think that Jermain Defoe is very good, going on excellent, but if it were me, I would still put Peter Crouch alone up front. Defoe is exactly 1.70m, which in all honesty, is small so he is not at all suited to the long ball onto the head, which, usually, is what England end up doing. This is not an insult, it's true.

I think that my ideal England squad is quite strange to most people but still here it is. Keep in mind, this is disregarding any injuries or suspensions.

James

Gibbs Terry King G. Johnson

Milner Lampard Gerrard(C) Walcott

Rooney

Crouch

I bet "Are you crazy?" is the first thing you're thinking as you read this, but I have my explanations. In my opinion, A.Cole is a good player but in the dressing room, he's unpleasant. Gibbs is young, driven and runs like hell. Ferdinand, although he's normally the captain, I don't like as a player. He's a thug. And although he's a big part morally of the England set up, I prefer King's technical ability. And of course: I left out Hart. I think he's a great keeper, he's amazing but I like James. I think that he should play until he retires. It's nearly the end of his career and just for two or so years, then I'm all for Hart coming in.

Today though, I still think that England, sadly, no matter what, have not got what it takes to win a major competition. I do think however that if they win the bid for the 2018 World Cup, they can easily go on and win that with the home support.

WHY CAN'T EVERYTHING BE WIRELESS????????

By the way, this was supposed to be an unboxing of a PSP accessory I got today. I figured it was going to be too boring, so I scrapped the unboxing. I will do a review of it this week, with pictures not only of it, but also of my new desk setup.

Seriously, who likes cables? Luckily my house is not like the picture above but it's pretty bad. I've tried to make it better of course, but then you just go out and buy more friggin stuff and the cables are never ending. This post is just to release my anger on the subject, so expect nothing positive.

Over the past hour or two, I have been trying to reorganise my desk a little, so it's less crowded. That was when I realised that it wasn't just the case of being slightly too crowded, it really was bad. Pens lying around the place, no pots at all to put them in, and more importantly, the topic of this post CABLES IN A BIG MESS ON THE FLOOR.

Now I thought that dealing with them would be pretty straight forward. Just get a few cable ties and get done with. But no, of course it wasn't that simple. Even the world's strongest man couldn't pull them tight with bare hands and even with the help of pliers they were real buggers to fully close if I may say so.

I have made the situation better but it's still not perfect and I really hope that before I die, I will be able to see a world with no cables. Even the power supply I want wireless.

At the same time, I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen. Everybody will be more interested in bringing out new MP3s, iPods, you name it than working on trying to untangle the world from cables. Still, you never know...

Crazy Deadline Day!

I have been following football all my life, and never have I seen a deadline day so action packed as yesterday's. To my great delight, AC Milan brought in two absolutely world class players in Ibrahimovic and Robinho and I think with their help we can win the league easily. Other rather surprising deals included Hleb joining Birmingham: I think that it was a very bad decision on his part. Firstly, Birmingham are no way near his class. Hleb is a guy who played for Arsenal, Stuttgart, and Barcelona, all leading teams in their respective divisions. For him to join a lower-mid table side I don't understand. Money have something to do with it...

Another thing I want to mention which I really don't understand is why oh why do clubs wait till 10 minutes before the bloody transfer window closes before making an offer for a player. You have two bloody months. Its as if it's a game to see how close they can cut it. Still I guess this provides entertainment for those following it closely.

Lastly, I think that it is ridiculous how much money clubs lose through transfers. Everyone is complaining of global meltdown and recession, nobody having any money etc... If clubs want money, don't start buying players for 30 million and selling them two years later for half the price! (eg Robinho and Ibrahimovic [Milan have the option to buy him at the end of the season for 24 million]).
