UK sports fans, especially women, are in shock after discovering the nominees for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. No women feature on the list, and Rebecca Adlington among others has already voiced her disapproval:
"There's been some great sportswomen like Keri-Anne Payne, it's sad they are not recognised"
Mark Cavendish (cycling), Darren Clarke (golf), Alastair Cook (cricket), Luke Donald (golf), Mo Farah (athletics), Dai Greene (athletics), Amir Khan (boxing), Rory McIlroy (golf), Andy Murray (tennis), Andrew Strauss (cricket) are the nominees for this year's award, with some on the list questionable.
The person who most deserves his place and to win it is Mark Cavendish, as his cycling achievements are truly remarkable and not many people, especially in the UK, recognise that. They are more interested in England winning the Ashes or Wayne Rooney having a hair transplant.
I digress, but it's worth mentioning. Others I really hope do well are Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke, as they deserve it, especially the latter with what he's been through.
What do you think of the list? Who do you think deserves to win? Comment below.
